  • 1978 Founded CAL Productions as Video and Film production company just outside London.
  • Directed over 150 documentaries and shorts.
  • 1982 Founded CAL Videographics Britain’s’ first video computer graphics company.
  • Special effects for films including Superman III and Emerald Forest.
  • Purchased the first commercially available Quantel Paintbox.
  • Built up 3D animation department with FGS 4000, VAX, SUN and SGI machines.
  • Installed two Quantel Harry suites.
  • CAL Group included CAL Videographics, Axis Associates Design, and Peter Claridge Pictures... total of 35 staff.

1993 - 1995

M.T.C. GmbH

  • Co-founded M.T.C GmbH as The Media Technology Center offering multimedia solutions within the Bavaria Studios.
  • Consultant to Babelsberg Studios Berlin on New Media.
  • Opened M.T.C (Berlin) in co-operation with the
    HI-COM advertising agency.

1995 - 1997

  • Sold M.T.C. GmbH's facilities and transferred staff to Bavaria Film GmbH to form Bavaria Interactive.
  • Purchased remaining shares in M.T.C. GmbH.
  • Contract as Creative Supervisor to Bavaria Interactive.
  • Created and launched ShowDisc Master Archive as a digital media archive and presentation platform.

1997 - 1998

  • Directed a series of Mickey Mouse TV Commercials
  • Contracted as Special FX Supervisor by Polyphon Film for the TV action series 'Helicops' (1 x 90mins Pilot and 13 x 45 mins episodes.)
  • 2nd Unit Director for Helicops. (1 x 90mins Pilot, and 13 x 45 mins episodes.) Shooting "Air to Air" action sequences, stunts, as well as "Beauty Shots" and scenes for the Title sequence.

1999

  • Developed new software project for sale over the Internet through an e-commerce site: 3six5 The Desktop Image Calendar.
  • Directed two projects for the Cadrage Agency in Munich. The second of which was a complex 8:3 aspect ratio video wall.
  • Visual effects Supervisor for Scanline on "Force Majeure" 90 min. TV Action Film (RTL), directed by American Joe Coppoletta.
  • Directed "Explosive" a one hour episode of the TV action series "Helicops" for Polyphon / SAT1.

2000

  • Visual Effects Supervisor for Carl Schenkel movie "Trouble Shooters". Shot in Frankfurt, Munich and Bavaria Studios.
  • Directed "Schneekönig und Samurai". a one hour episode of the TV action series " Helicops" for Polyphon / SAT1.
  • Directed "Doppeltes Spiel". A one hour episode of Helicops.

2001

  • Directed "Never too Dark". A twenty five minute Action Thriller for Microsoft. (Cadrage Agency)
  • Directed four one hour TV episodes of "Die Kumpel" for SAT1 (r&m projektfilm).
    - Schlüssel zur Wahrheit.
    - Irren ist menschlich.
    - Totes Rennen.
    - Auf der Kippe.

2002

  • Directed "Tamanana" 3D animated film.
    A family oriented film featuring 'Motion Captured' human actors. Their actions being transferred into the 'cartoon' computer generated characters.

2003

  • Directed " Driving Technology Faster" a short for Cadrage Agency - Microsoft, highlighting the technology behind F1 motor racing, and featuring Nicki Lauda.
  • Directed "Ecofast" a lighthearted look at two managers being subjected to a psychological stress test. Cadrage Agency - Siemens.

2004

  • Tandem Communications / UFO Film / RTL
    Post production visual effects consultant on a RTL 90 min. movie.
  • Constantin Film
    2nd Unit Director and Visual Effects Supervisor on feature film “Siegfried”. Animatronic animals, real animals, actors… and children!
    Shot in Slovakia. Postproduction in Munich and Prague.

2005

  • Securitel / ZDF
    Throughout the year I directed over thirty crime reconstruction films for the TV series "Aktenzeiten XY". The 'new look' show grew to regular viewing figures of between 4 - 5 million viewers!

2006

  • Throughout the year I directed more 'XY' films for Securitel / ZDF, as well as returning to England to shoot three DVD productions for 'BodyTalk'.

  • Cinec Jury Member: It was an unexpected pleasure to be asked to join the Jury of the 2006 Cinec Awards in Munich. (The European equivalent of the Academy Awards for Technical Achievement.)

2007

  • Pre production for a cinema feature film based on the best selling book "Der Kleine Medicus" written by Dietrich Grönemeyer.

    Produced by Zeitsprung Entertainment in Cologne, screenplay by Elfie Donnelly and Paul Arató.

  • BodyTalk Programmes Ltd
    Directed several more DVD projects in the "Knowing About" healthcare series.

2008

  • Securitel / ZDF January opened with directing more crime reconstruction films for ‘XY…’ but now in the new 90 minutes format. My episode received
    5.91 million viewers and an 18.4% market share! Placing it #1 in the German Primetime.


Since 1972 I have directed hundreds of projects including TV action films, shorts, image films, commercials and music clips. As well as being 2nd Unit Director and Visual Effects Supervisor on several cinema projects.

To date I have received twelve directing awards including:

  • 1984 Berlin Silver International TV-Spot
  • 1987 ITVA's "Best Director" Craft Award.
  • 1991 Prix Arts Electronica
  • 1992 Chicago ‘Silver Screen
